# Port your numbers to Peerlogic

> Gather the three documents Peerlogic needs, follow a port-in request through carrier review, and fix a rejected request when moving your phone numbers to Peerlogic Voice.

Transfer your existing phone numbers from your current provider to Peerlogic Voice. Peerlogic submits the port request for you once it has three matching documents from you. Your part is to gather those documents and correct any details the carrier rejects.

## When to use this

* You are moving your practice's phone service to Peerlogic Voice and want to keep your existing numbers.
* You want to move both the voice and text messaging service for a number. If you want to move only messaging, see [Porting vs. hosting your numbers](/peerlogic-voice/onboarding/porting-vs-hosting).

## Prerequisites

* Access to your account with your current (losing) provider, or the person who manages it.
* The person authorized to sign for that account, who signs the Letter of Authorization.
* Your current phone service stays active. Don't cancel it until Peerlogic confirms that your numbers are ported.

## Procedure

<Steps>
  <Step title="Request a Customer Service Record from your current provider">
    Ask your current provider for a Customer Service Record (CSR). The CSR lists all of your phone numbers and the account details needed to approve the port. Your provider may send it as an email, a spreadsheet, or a Word document. Send the CSR to [Peerlogic Support](https://support.peerlogic.com/contact/).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Complete the Letter of Authorization">
    Complete the Letter of Authorization (LOA) that Peerlogic sends you through DocuSign. Include:

    * Every number you want to port
    * The customer billing name (end user name)
    * The customer billing address
    * The name of the authorized signer

    <Warning>
      The information on the LOA must match the CSR exactly. Any mismatch causes the carrier to reject the port request.
    </Warning>
  </Step>

  <Step title="Provide a recent phone bill">
    Send [Peerlogic Support](https://support.peerlogic.com/contact/) a complete copy of a phone bill from your current provider, dated within the last 30 days. A screenshot is not accepted. The bill should clearly show:

    * The billed phone numbers
    * The customer name
    * The billing address
    * The account number
    * Any other account details, such as an account PIN

    This information should match the CSR and the LOA.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Wait for Peerlogic to submit the request">
    After Peerlogic has all three documents, it submits the port request using the exact information on your LOA. Within one to two business days, your current carrier either accepts the request or rejects it.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Correct a rejected request">
    If the carrier rejects the request, Peerlogic tells you the reason. Common reasons include:

    * Information that doesn't match between your documents and the carrier's records
    * Missing details, such as the account's porting PIN
    * Numbers that are disconnected
    * Numbers the carrier can't find on the account

    In most cases, you need to contact your current provider to get correct or updated details, or to reactivate a disconnected number. Send the updated information to Peerlogic so it can resubmit the request.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Watch for the Firm Order Commitment date">
    After the carrier accepts the request, it confirms a Firm Order Commitment (FOC) date. The FOC date is when your numbers are scheduled to transfer to Peerlogic. The carrier can still reject the request before the FOC is confirmed.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Confirm the port is complete">
    After your numbers transfer, Peerlogic finishes setting up each number and sends you a confirmation email. After you receive that confirmation, cancel your old service so you are not billed twice.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Exceptions

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Your numbers are on more than one account or carrier">
    Numbers that belong to different accounts or different carriers are submitted as separate port requests. Each request is reviewed separately and can receive its own FOC date.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="The port is taking longer than expected">
    Each port request typically takes 5 days to 2 weeks, and can take longer. Timing depends on how quickly the carrier responds and how quickly you provide any information the carrier requests.
  </Accordion>
</AccordionGroup>

## Verify

You receive a confirmation email from Peerlogic that your numbers are ported. Call each ported number and confirm that it rings on your Peerlogic Voice phones.
