# Report an incorrect spam label

> Register a Peerlogic Voice number and report an incorrect spam label to the carrier or call-protection provider that applied it.

Receiving carriers and call-protection providers evaluate calls independently. If a legitimate call from your Peerlogic Voice number displays a spam warning, register the number and report the incorrect label to the provider that applied it.

<Warning>
  Registration and feedback do not guarantee that a label will change. Providers evaluate each request and may continue to label individual calls based on calling patterns and recipient feedback.
</Warning>

## When to use this

Use this process when recipients report that legitimate outgoing calls from your practice display labels such as **Spam**, **Spam Likely**, **Potential Spam**, or **Potential Fraud**.

## How spam labels work

[Caller ID authentication](https://www.fcc.gov/call-authentication) helps providers verify that a call came from the number shown. It does not determine whether the call is legitimate or wanted. Receiving carriers and call-protection providers can also consider calling patterns and recipient feedback, so an authenticated call can still display a spam warning.

## Before you begin

Collect the following information:

* Each affected 10-digit phone number
* The exact label recipients see and, when possible, a screenshot with personal information removed
* The recipient's mobile carrier and device type
* Whether the call rang, was screened, or went directly to voicemail
* Any caller-identification or call-blocking app the recipient uses
* The date, time, and time zone of at least one affected call
* Your legal business name, address, website, and business contact information
* The purpose of your calls and estimated monthly call volume

You must be authorized to register the numbers for the business that uses them. Use business information only. Do not enter patient information in registration or feedback forms.

## Resolution

Start with the exact label, carrier, device, and call-protection app reported by the recipient. A result on one carrier or device does not establish how another provider treats the same number.

      <Step title="Register the business and numbers">
        Open the [Free Caller Registry](https://freecallerregistry.com/fcr/) and verify your business email. Enter your business details, calling purpose, estimated call volume, and the affected phone numbers.
      </Step>

      <Step title="Submit accurate information">
        Review the information, accept the registry terms, and submit the registration. The business must use the registered numbers to make calls on its own behalf.
      </Step>

      <Step title="Keep the responses">
        Save the acknowledgment or follow-up message from each call-protection provider. Follow any additional instructions it contains.
      </Step>
    </Steps>

    Registration helps call-protection providers associate the numbers with your business. It does not create a caller ID name or logo, and it does not guarantee that a label will change. Do not repeatedly submit the same number; duplicate submissions provide no additional value.

    Save the feedback ID after submission. Verizon may request more information and does not guarantee that feedback will change future labels.

    Apple explains that [caller information on iPhone](https://support.apple.com/guide/iphone/change-your-phone-settings-iph6e5e72b79/ios) can come from several sources. Use what the recipient sees to choose the next step:

    * **Spam or fraud label:** The recipient's carrier or a caller-identification app may have supplied the label. Report it to that provider. The iPhone spam filter can silence calls that the carrier identifies as potential spam or fraud.
    * **Screened or silenced unknown call:** The recipient can save the number or change their call-filtering settings. This recipient-side change does not change the number's reputation for other people.
    * **Business name or logo:** Apple Business can help a verified business display accurate identity information in supported Apple experiences. Apple does not document it as a process for removing carrier or third-party spam labels.

    Apple Business does not replace number registration or provider-specific feedback.

## Protect your caller reputation

* Call people who expect to hear from your practice.
* Honor requests to stop calling.
* Avoid repeated calls in a short period unless the recipient expects them.
* Use consistent phone numbers instead of frequently replacing them.
* Clearly identify your practice and the reason for the call.

Follow all consent, calling-time, and do-not-call requirements that apply to your practice.

## Verify

Keep each provider's confirmation or reference ID. After the provider processes the request, ask an affected recipient to check a new call on the same carrier or device.

Because call labeling is dynamic, a successful registration or review does not guarantee how every future call will display.

If the label remains after the provider reviews the request, [contact Peerlogic Support](https://support.peerlogic.com/contact/). Include the affected number, a redacted screenshot, the call date and time with time zone, the recipient's carrier and device, and the provider's confirmation or reference ID. Do not include patient information.
